I grew during the “freedom era” for our country. It was a transitional time when there was a lot of euphoria and anticipation in every home. And so there was a lot of stories and information sharing over meals, over activities, on road ways and most gatherings over who and what was once in this stage but now they have moved higher to other settings. I grew up listening to these stories and become one curious individual. And so, I would steal moments of adult talk till I developed an instinctive habit of listening, watching, reading stories. I would be the child in the book store who picks up an autobiography book over a fictional one.
My appreciation of story telling continued from my high school, where I took up Arts related curricula till College graduating with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. I find myself giving time and attention to the people’s individual journeys. I took up a career in Public Relations to fulfil this craving for growing individual relationships in different spaces. That led me to a career in media and journalism where I authored newspaper columns that talked stories of leadership and management roles and functions. As I developed an interest in aesthetically beautiful spaces, I slowly carved a niche to serve my customers with a platform to express their values, attitudes and beliefs in the spaces they occupy. I often claim the glory and title of “Griot” of Interior design.
My role is to listen to what the customer desires and built a design that fully exploits the architecture to come up with a design that embraces fit for purpose . We often say when we shop for pieces of furniture, we are on a “Personal Visualization Tour” . Every piece is intricately put together to define individual taste and preference. Our design process involves meticulous planning and implementation from the initial contact till delivery of the components.
